Live report: On the first day of the giant Ferris wheel’s opening, visitors who queued for 3 hours still said it was “worth it”.
By 9 a.m., the queue had already circled the square twice.
At 8:30 a.m. on April 12, half an hour before the "Eye in the Clouds" Ferris wheel was scheduled to open, a long queue had already formed at the ticket counter. By 9:00 a.m., the queue had circled the plaza twice, forcing staff to release passengers in sections. Mr. Zhang, a resident from the surrounding area, said, "My child was so excited last night that he couldn't sleep, and he dragged me out the door at 7 a.m. this morning."
- The couple's marriage proposal unexpectedly became a "surprise," drawing cheers from the entire audience.
Around 3 PM, a young man suddenly knelt down on one knee as the Ferris wheel reached its highest point, pulling out a ring. His girlfriend hesitated for a few seconds, then nodded with tears in her eyes. The tourists queuing below, seeing the live broadcast on the big screen, applauded and cheered. The park staff then presented him with two lifetime free passes as a congratulatory gift.
Overlooking the entire city from 88 meters high
Reporters accompanied tourists aboard the Ferris wheel, and at its highest point of 88 meters, the entire city came into view. The observation cabins are equipped with 360-degree transparent glass and wireless charging pads, and tourists eagerly took out their phones to take pictures.
Highlights:
- Each cabin seats a maximum of 6 people, and a complete circuit takes approximately 18 minutes.
- The cabin air conditioning can be adjusted independently, keeping it warm in winter and cool in summer.
- A transparent glass floor at the bottom challenges your courage.
Daily visitor numbers exceed 8,000, park implements crowd control measures. As of 5 PM, the park had received over 8,000 visitors that day, setting a new record for the park's single-day visitor count for a single attraction. The park has implemented emergency crowd control measures, allowing only 20 people in each queue, and has arranged for staff to provide small fans and bottled water to those waiting in line.
Visitors have called for the introduction of nighttime tickets, and the park management responded that they will study the matter. Many visitors have expressed that the lighting would be more beautiful at night and hoped the park would offer exclusive nighttime tickets. A park representative responded on-site: "We have noticed this demand, and our technical team is evaluating lighting and safety solutions for nighttime operations, aiming to launch them before May Day."
